Coronavirus Update - M.B.A. statement - 16th May 2020

We are experiencing unprecedented times with another three-week lockdown imposed by our Welsh government due to the corona-virus, covid-19, to at least 29th May, with probable social distancing continuing for a longer time.

First and foremost, must be the health and well-being of our members and their families.

The W.B.A. have already cancelled all events as of the 18th March from Secretary Terry Hopkins.

The M.B.A. Executive have decided to cancel the following:-

  • All individual competitions.
There will be a redraw for 2021. Competitors age will be a year older in under 18 and under 25 and may become over age. Also, in the other age bracket, players could be eligible for senior competitions becoming 60 years of age by April. Please remember our finalists go to WBA finals, so age is a factor. No MBA Finals Day.
  • Cancel our MBA cup competition. No cup final day.
  • All League games are cancelled. No promotion or relegation. Use 2020 programme for 2021.

  • Inter Association games are cancelled. Use 2020 programme for 2021.
  • Cancel presentation evening as nothing to present.
  • All our County friendly games are cancelled. Rearrange a similar programme for 2021.
  • Postpone Presidents tour of Hampshire based in Southampton from August 31st - 4th September and try to arrange for the same time in 2021.
  • President Tony Pask to use season 2021 as his year and Mike Jones follow on in 2022 with Gethin Hill in 2023.

When the restrictions are eased the WBA are working with Bowls Wales on a return to play strategy which we will forward to you.

Regards
