Caerleon Sports Roundup - 18th June

A wet day yesterday meant a few fixtures fell by the wayside, can I remind clubs to let me know when this happens and also let me know when the new date is set. Also a few clubs still think I get their results via a crystal ball, every club should send in their results after every game. Finally, while on my soap box, a few clubs have rearranged their cup matches for after the official date, this was allowed last round due to the special bank holiday but should not become the normal practice. If you have a good reason for wanting to change a cup match, it should be mutually agreed by the two clubs on a date prior to the official date.

This weeks round up begins last Sunday where a very exciting mba1 game finished 81-80 to Blackwood against Croesyceiliog, both sides improving and pushing for the top spot, point wise it was 10-4 to Blackwood. In gbl2 Blaina beat Beechwood 12-0.

Wednesday saw Machen host Crosskeys with the visitors enjoying a 12-2 victory.

Friday was the 3rd round of the cup and the closest game was St Julians 8 shot victory over Panteg House. Pontymister Athletic moved into the last eight with a win at Llanhilleth while Rhymney Gwent failed to raise a team to go to Cwmbran. Newbridge beat Pontypool Girlings and Beaufort beat Pontnewydd.
