Caerleon Sport Weekly Round up - Week 10


MBA Cup
New Tredegar and Ynysddu battled it out 2 days early on the Wednesday evening with New Tredegar using the home advantage to win by 26 shots. Back to the standard Friday games, RTB proves too strong for Blaina with a 35 shot win to continue their pursuit of defending the cup. Chepstow won by 5 at Croesyceiliog win a final end win and St Julian's held out at home to Blackwood in another close game, this one by 7 shots.

MBA Division 1
In the top of the table clash, Crosskeys took the spoils on the day and with it top position following a 10-4 win against Cwmbran. Croesyceiliog move up 1 place with a 10-4 win against Pontymister Athletic. Bedwas followed up on last week's win with a 10-4 win at Chepstow and Backwood edged out RTB on the final end to record a 12-2 win.

MBA Division 2
Newbridge stay top despite a 10-4 defeat to Pontnewydd. Rhymney Royal move up to 2nd following their 12-2 win at Caldicot. Rhymney Gwents' 10-4 win home to Pontypool Park Girlings sees then move up 1 place whilst Machen record their first win of the season with 12 points at Abergavenny.

MBA Division 3
No change in the top 2 despite both teams falling to defeat, Blaenavon defeating St Julian's 12-2 and Beaufort recorded their first win of the season with an 11-3 win against Blaina. Llanhilleth move up to 3rd following a maximum 14 points in their local match against Abertillery.

MBA Division 4
With Ynysddu off this week, Bedwellty Park closed the gap at the top to 4 points with a 14-0 win against Beechwood. Panteg Park move to 3rd following their 14 points at Aberca. Firbank move out the dropzone following a 12-2 win against Six Bells and Panteg House win 10-4 at Oakdale.

MBA Division 5
Pontymister Welfare continued their winning running and 100% record, this time with a 12-2 win at Crickhowell. Whiteheads hold 2nd spot following their 10-4 win at Pontyfelin. Gadiffaith (12-2 at Newport Athletic) and Caerleon ( 14-0 at Gilwe ) both record wins to move up in the table.

GBL Division 1
Croesyceiliog hold onto top spot following their 10 points at Pontymister Welfare whilst Pontymister Athletic keep the pressure on them with a 10-2 win at home to Monmouth to stay level on points. Chepstow (10-2 at Bedwas) and Newbridge (12-0 against RTB) both record wins and move up in their standings.

GBL Division 2
A quiet afteoon in Division 2 with only a single game taking place where Caldicot maintained their push for promotion with a 10-2 win at Abertillery.

GBL Division 3
St Julians retued to winning ways and lead the way with an 8-2 win at Whiteheads. Pontypool Park Girlings move up 3 spots following their 10 points against Croesyceiliog. The remaining games of the afteoon were closely fought, with Bailey Park edged out Cwmbran by a single shot and Beaufort winning by 4 against Abercan.
