With the revamp of the leagues causing an extended fixture program a number of clubs were struggling in week 1 and there were a number of postponements.
Hopefully this was contributed to by the clash with the Easter holiday and things will improve shortly.
M.B.A. Division 1
Crosskeys lead the way beating Beaufort 12-2 followed by Pontymister Athletic who beat Chepstow 10-4. Unusually both the remaining fixtures ended in draws with Blackwood and Bedwas sharing the spoils 7-7 and likewise Abertillery and Machen.
M.B.A. Division 2
I have not heard from Caldicot or Bedwellty but what I have Rhymney Gwent are early leaders with a 12-2 win at Abergavenny followed by Croesyceiliog who also won 12-2 at Brynmawr. Blaina are close behind winning 10-4 against Newbridge.
M.B.A. Division 3
Pontnewydd top this league after beating Blaenavon 12-2 followed by Six Bells who won 11-3 at Caerleon, Llanhilleth are next after a 10-4 win at St. Julians followed by Rhymney Royal who had a 10-4 win against local rivals New Tredegar.
M.B.A. Division 4
Llanwern were the first club failing to raise a team and I wish them well as they rally round trying to save their club this week. On the green the early pace setters are Whiteheads who secured a 12-2 win against Pontymister Welfare, they are followed by Panteg House and Ebbw Vale Welfare who both secured 10-4 wins against Belle Vue and Firbank respectively.
M.B.A. Division 5
I have only had one result to date and Newport Athletic are leading after recording the only 14-0 win of the day at Garndiffaith.
G.B.L. Division 1
Bedwas lead after recording the only clean sweep in the GBL 12-0 against Blackwood. They are followed by Croesyceiliog who won 10-2 against Crickhowell, RTB who won 10-2 against Abercarn and Newbridge who won 10-2 against Pontymister Athletic.
G.B.L. Division 2
No results in as yet although I know at least two of these matches were postponed.
