Week 3 Roundup from M.B.A. League Secretary Peter Williams


M.B.A. Division 1
R.T.B. Ebbw Vale move into pole position after a one shot victory at Pontymister Athletic, Abertillery are now second after beating Chepstow, Machen and Blackwood recorded their first wins of the season to leave Beaufort at the foot of the table.

M.B.A. Division 2
Caldicot remain top despite a narrow defeat at home to Cwmbran, Croesyceiliog are second after a big win against Newbridge while Brynmawr and Blaina also won their matches.

M.B.A. Division 3
Pontnewydd continue their impressive start despite not being able to play at home yet, they won 12-2 at second place Six Bells behind these two there were wins for New Tredegar, St. Julians and Rhymney Royal.

M.B.A. Division 4
Ebbw Vale Welfare are two from two after beating Oakdale but Panteg House remain top despite a heavy defeat at Pontymister Welfare and there was a narrow victory for Whiteheads over Firbank in the Newport derby.

M.B.A. Division 5
Two clubs remain at 100%, Ynysddu and Newport Athletic and they sit one and two respectively, Panteg Park and Standard also recorded wins in this division.

G.B.L. Division 1
After this round of results where there were victories for Abercarn, Croesyceiliog, Pontymister Athletic and Crickhowell three clubs tie at the top on 22 points with Pontymister Athletic top followed by Newbridge and R.T.B. but Croesyceiliog are only two points behind these three and have played a game less.

G.B.L. Division 2
The only results I have saw victory for Blaina at Bedwellty Park and Belle Vue at Abergavenny.


The leagues take a three week break now as the MBA clubs battle each other for the twelve places up for grabs in the Carruthers Shield, the Welsh club championship, and I wish you all well. Let's see if we can get four MBA clubs in Llandrindod in August.
