Caerleon Sports Weekly Roundup - Week 1


MBA Division 1
St. Julians made a winning start to the season following their promotion to the top flight, as they recorded a maximum 14 points at home to Bedwas. Pontymister Athletic (12-2 vs RTB) and Croesyceiliog (10-4 vs Cwmbran) came away with wins on the road, whilst Blackwood edged out 2024 champions Crosskeys by a single shot to also start their season with a win.
 
MBA Division 2
Blaenavon lead the way after the first week as they collected all 14 points at home to Caldicot, as Newbridge (12-2 at Blaina) and Rhymney Royal (11-3 vs Pontypool Park Girlings) also began with wins in their respective games.
 
MBA Division 3
Llanhilleth ( at Machen ) and Bedwellty Park (at Abergavenny) both started their season with maximum points to occupy the top 2. Pontnewydd started with a 10-4 win home to Beechwood, whilst Panteg House also recorded an 8-6 win against Chepstow, despite only winning on 1 of the 4 rinks.
 
MBA Division 4
New Tredgar (vs Abertillery), Panteg Park (vs Firbank) and Oakdale ( at Aberca), all began with 12-2 wins against their respective opponents, whilst Beaufort sit just behind them, with an 11-3 win over Whiteheads.
 
MBA Division 5
Six Bells (vs PILCS) and Caerleon(at Gilwe) both recorded big 14-0 wins to head the division. There were also wins for Newport Athletic (12-2 vs Gadiffaith), Belle Vue (10-4 vs Crickhowell) and our newest club, Oakdale Welfare who made a winning start to their season with a 10-4 win at Pontymister Welfare.
 
GBL 3 Rink - Division 1
Croesyceiliog (at Pontymister Athletic), RTB Ebbw Vale (vs Bedwas) and Crosskeys (vs Blackwood) all started their campaigns with 10-2 wins against their respective opponents, with Monmouth also recording an 8-4 win on the road to Caldicot.
 
GBL 3 Rink - Division 2
Aberca top the division after week 1, as they took all 12 point at Beechwood, whilst Newbridge (10-2 at Abergavenny) and Bedwellty Park (8-4 vs Pontymister Welfare) also started out with wins.
