Caerleon Sports Weekly Roundup - Week 4


MBA Cup - 1st Round

Friday night saw the start of the MBA Cup, as 2 first round matches took place with both home teams coming away with victory and booking their place in the 2nd Round, Blaenavon overcoming Chepstow and Crosskeys recording victory against Abertillery.
 
 

WLB Carruthers - MBA Round 2

Round 2 of the Carruthers took place as 28 teams looked to book their place in the final round of matches within the county. Wins for all of the remaining Division 1 teams (Beaufort, Bedwas, Blackwood, RTB Ebbw Vale, St. Julians, Croesyceiliog, Pontymister Athletic and Cwmbran Park) sees 9 of the 14 teams in the final week come from the top flight. Elsewhere Abergavenny (v Caerleon) and Oakdale (v Pontynewydd) both won by the finest of margins ( 1 shot ). Ynysddu overcame Chepstow at home and it was the visitors Panteg House who won the Panteg Derby.

MBA Division 5

With much of the action focused on the Carruthers this week, it was only Division 5 of the MBA Leagues which saw action. Belle Vue moved upto 3rd in the table with a 12-2 win at Pontymister Welfare whilst Oakdale Welfare kept up their winning start to their debut season with a 12-2 win over Crickhowell, and sit 4th in the table. Further down in the table, Gadiffaith edged out PILCS by a single shot (10-4) to record their first win of the season.
 
 

3 Rink - GBL Division 1

RTB Ebbw Vale made it 3 wins from 3, as they picked up a 10-2 at home to Caldicot. Monmouth also maintained their winning start with a 3rd win, a narrow 10-2 win at home to Crosskeys. In the final game of the afteoon, Pontymister Athletic continued on from last weeks win as they saw off Blackwood, picking up 10 points in the process. Croesyceiliog and Bedwas was postponed due to Carruthers involvement.
 
 

3 Rink - GBL Division 2

Newbridge continued their winning start as they picked up all 12 points at home to Pontymister Welfare. Aberca recorded their 2nd win of the season with a 12-0 win over Abergavenny, whilst Chepstow recorded their first win at the season with an 8-4 win at Beechwood.
 
 

2 Rink - GBL Division 1

Beaufort started their campaign with an 8-2 win at Cwmbran Park. In the other game of the day, Bailey Park and Ynysddu battled it out and had to settle for a share of the points (5-5) as the scores finished level.
 
 

2 Rink - GBL Division 2

Panteg Park remain top as they retu to winning ways with an 8-2 win at home to Oakdale. Panteg House move upto 2nd place as they picked up 10 points against Blackwood, whilst Caldicot also climb up the table to 3rd with 10 points at New Tredegar.
 
 

County Championship

Good luck to our County Championship team today as they take on South Glamorgan in the 1st County Championship match at RTB Ebbw Vale.
