Inter Association
Double report on the Inter Association as I forgot to report on results from the 1st round of matches 2 weeks ago.
Wins for Easte Valley (18-4 v South Mon.), West Mon (18-4 at Newport) and East Mon (15-7 v Rhymney & Sirhowy ) sees them all open their accounts with wins. Great to see all 6 associations in action again and East Mon. retuing with a win following their absense for a few years.
Onto the 2nd week of matches, West Mon remain the only undefeated team this year as they took 19 points from Easte Valley to head the table. South Mon. move upto 2nd as they record their first win of the season by the smallest of possible margins, 1/2 a shot!, as Rhymney & Sirhowy were forced to play short. Newport & District also recorded their first win, as they took 17 points from East Mon.
MBA Division 1
Crosskeys moved up to 2nd place in the table as they took all 14 points on offer at home to Croesyceiliog. Blackwood also close the gap with leaders St. Julians to a single point as they recorded a narrow 12-2 win against Bedwas and now sit 3rd in the table on shot count. The Cwmbran & RTB Ebbw Vale game fell foul of the weather and had to be postponed.
MBA Division 2
Newbridge maintain their winning start to the season and remain top with a 12-2 in over Rhymney Gwent. Ynysddu also kept up their winning start, as they took 11 points home from Pontypool Park Girlings and sit 3rd after 3 games. Blaenavon retu to winning ways as they recorded a 10-4 win over Blaina, whilst Rhymney Royal move up one place in the table to 4th, with a 12-2 win over Caldicot.
MBA Division 3
Panteg House move up into 3rd place, and closed the gap with the top 2 as they overcame Llanhilleth (10-4), who remain top despite the defeat. 2nd place Bedwelty Park also feel to defeat as Chepstow recorded a 12-2 over them. Elsewhere Beechwood came away with a 12-2 win at Abergavenny, with the remaining scheduled game between Pontynewydd and Machen being postponed due to the visitors having players shortages.
MBA Division 4
Panteg Park move up into 2nd place in the league with a closely fought 10-4 win at Firbank, whilst leaders New Tredegar fell to their first defeat of the season despite winning 3 rinks at Abertillery ( 8-6 to Abertillery ). In another game where one side won despite falling to defeat on 3 of the 4 rinks, Oakdale came way with an 8-6 win against Aberca. Whiteheads and Beaufort was another casualty of the weather and was postponed.
MBA Division 5
Newport Athletic are the new division leaders as they won the battle of the top 2 against Six Bells (12-2). Pontymister Welfare moved upto 3rd in the table with an 11-3 win at Gilwe, whilst Belle Vue also move up (into 4th) with a 10-4 win over Oakdale Welfare. Further down in the table, PILCS moved up 2 places to 7th with a 12-2 win over Gilwe whilst Gadiffaith also recorded a 10-4 win , as they saw off Caerleon.
3 Rink GBL - Division 1
Two very closely fought games in the division this week. Bedwas holding off Caldicot by 4 shots to record a 10-2 win, whilst RTB Ebbw Vale made it 4 wins from 4 this season as they won by a narrower margin of 2 shots against Crosskeys, picking up an 8-4 win.
3 Rink GBL - Division 2
Bedwelty Park move into pole position and keep up their 100% record as they won 10-2 at home to Newbridge. Chepstow inflicted Abercas first defeat of the season, in a narrow 3 shot win, picking up 10 of the 12 points on offer. Blaina and Beechwood had to abandon their game after roughly 9 ends due to the weather and will look to complete the game at a later date.
2 Rink GBL - Division 1
Bailey Park remain top as they took all 10 points at Pontypool Park Girlings whilst Ynysddu keep up the pressure on them as they also recorded a 10-0 win at Beaufort to sit just 2 points back in the division. Cwmbran and Croesyceiliog was postponed due the weather.
2 Rink GBL - Division 2
Panteg House move top as they recorded a 10-0 win over Oakdale. Pontymister Athletic keep up their winning ways with a 9-1 win at Panteg Park and sit 4th despite only having played 2 games so far. Blackwood are upto 5th place as they won 8-2 at Caldicot.
