Caerleon Sports Weekly Roundup - Week 11
Inter Association
Friday saw round 4 of the Friday night Inter Association take place. West Mon. wrapped up the title with a game to spare, following an 18-4 win over South Mon. at Newbridge. Easte Valley moved upto 3rd place following 18-4 win against East Mon. whilst Rhymney & Sirhowy recorded their first win, a 16-6 win over Newport & District.
Carruthers Shield - 2nd Round
Saturday saw the last 16 of the 2025 Carruthers shield taking place as our 4 remaining teams in the competition looked to make it to the last 8. There was always going to be atleast 1 Monmouthshire casualty with the all Monmouthshire match of Bedwas and Pontymister Athletic. It with home side Bedwas who booking their place in the next round with an 81-72 win. Beaufort also followed Pontymister in defeat, as they went down by 11 shots at Llanbradach 70-81. RTB Ebbw Vale joined Bedwas in the quarter finals following their 90-57 at Guest Memorial in a match that also doubled up as the first edition of the Darren Medd Cup.
The quarter finals draw took place on Sunday with both of our remaining teams drawing each other.

MBA Divsion 1
With a number of teams in Carruther Action, only one of the scheduled games took place as Blackwood travelled to early season leaders St. Julians. A close contest saw the visitors record a 6 shot win, 12 points and with it top spot in the division as we approach the mid-point of the season.
MBA Divsion 2
Ynysddu continue their winning streak, making it 7 wins from 7, with a 10-4 win at Rhymney Royal. Newbridge continue to keep pace of with them and sit 6 points back following their 12-2 win over Caldicot. Blaina move up into 4th place as they recorded a big 14-0 win over Rhymney Gwent. Pontypool Park Girlings secured their first win of the season, a 10 shot 12-2 win at Blaenavon.
MBA Divsion 3
No change in the top 2, as both Bedwellty Park (12-2 v Abergavenny) and Pontnewydd (12-2 at Beechwood) both continued their winning ways. Panteg House move up into 3rd place as they too secured a 12-2 win at home to Chepstow. Further down the table, Machen move up into 6th as they won 10-4 at Llanhilleth.
MBA Divsion 4
Abertillery are the new leaders of Division 4 as they took all 14 points on offer at home to Aberca. New Tredegar sit 3 points back as they won a closely fought encounter at Panteg Park 10-4. Oakdale move into 4th place with 12-2 win at Whiteheads whilst Firbank came away with a 12-2 win at Beaufort.
MBA Divsion 5
Six Bells took over at the top of division 5 for less than 24 hours following their 12-2 win over Gilwe on Saturday. Newport Athletic then retued to the top on Sunday as they won 12-2 against Crickhowell to lead the division by 2 points. 2 games for Gadiffaith over the last week, a double header against Oakdale Welfare, saw them on both occasions come away with 10-4 wins and rise to 3rd in the table. Caerleon moved up into 6th place as they secured a 12-2 win over Gilwe whilst PILCS moved off the bottom of the table, also picking up a 12-2 win at Belle Vue.
GBL 3 Rink Division 1
Croesyceiliog move into pole position of the 1st division with a 10-2 win over Pontymister Athletic. Monmouth move up 1 place into 5th place following their 12-0 win over Caldicot, whilst Crosskeys came away with an 8-4 win at Blackwood. Sunday saw Bedwas pick up their 2nd win of the season as won 10-2 at home to RTB Ebbw Vale.
GBL 3 Rink Division 2
Maximum points for Aberca against Blaina see them rise to 2nd place in the table whilst Chepstow also picked up 12 points at home to Beechwood to rise to 3rd in table. Abergavenny and Pontymister Welfare was postponed due to the visitors having players shortages.

In the only match of the afteoon in the division, Pontypool Park Girlings took all 10 points at home to Beaufort.

Panteg House are new division leaders as they took all 10 points on offer against their rivals Panteg Park. Pontymister Athletic move to 4th place with a 10-0 win over Caldicot whilst Oakdale came away with an 8-2 win over New Tredegar.
