Late night reporting this week, with another action packed weekend of bowls played across the county.
MBA Cup
Friday night saw the Quarter finals of the MBA Cup take place as teams looked to book their place in the last 4 of the competition. Home advantage played it's part on the night as all 4 hosts, Blackwood, Panteg House, Pontymister Athletic and RTB Ebbw Vale secured their place in the semi finals.
The draw for the semi finals took place outside of the county of for the first time and my thanks to Joe Gape of Whitchurch B.C. for his help in conduction the draw.

MBA Divsion 1
Crosskeys moved to the top of the 1st division as they secured a 12-2 win at home to early league pace setters St. Julians, who following defeat drop to 4th in the table. Blackwood moved upto 2nd, just 1 point behind the leaders following their closely fought 11-3 win at Cwmbran Park. Bedwas also rise in the table after a picking up all 14 points at home to Pontymister Athletic, whilst Croesyceiliog remain in 5th spot, following a commanding 12-2 win at home to RTB Ebbw Vale.
MBA Divsion 2
Ynysddu are the new leaders as they continue their unbeaten season, making it 6 wins from 6 as they won 12-2 at Rhymney Gwent. Newbridge move into 2nd place despite a narrow 10-4 loss at Blaina. Rhymney Royal remain 4th with a 10-4 win at Pontypool Park Girlings, whilst Caldicot secured their first win of the season with an 11-3 win over Blaenavon to move up 2 places.
MBA Divsion 3
Leaders Bedwellty Park increased their gap at the top to 9 points as they saw off Llanhilleth 12-2, whilst 2nd place Pontnewydd continue to apply the pressure with an 11-3 win at home to Panteg House. Chepstow rise to 3rd in the table with a 12-2 win over Abergavenny, and Machen also secured home victory, a 12-2 win over Beechwood.
MBA Divsion 4
No movement in the league standings despite all 8 teams being in action. Aberca remain top with a 12-2 win over Whiteheads. Oakdale secured a 10-4 win at home to New Tredegar, Panteg Park edged out Beaufort 10-4 and Abertillery also came away with a win, 9-5 at Firbank.
MBA Divsion 5
Thursday evening saw Leaders Newport Athletic come away with another win, a 12-2 home win over Oakdale Welfare. Onto the weekend, Six Bells victory saw them close the gap at the top to just 2 points as they won 12-2 at PILCS. Wins for Belle Vue (12-2 at Crickhowell), Oakdale Welfare (12-2 vs Pontymister Welfare) and Gilwe (10-4 at Caerleon) saw them all rise in the table and they now sit 5th,6th and 7th respectively.
GBL 3 Rink Division 1
RTB Ebbw Vale retu to the top of the league with a 10-2 win over Blackwood. Sitting just 1 point behind them is Pontymister Athletic, who secured all 12 points following a big win at home to Monmouth.
GBL 3 Rink Division 2
Leaders Bedwellty Park retued to winning ways by securing a 12-0 win at Beeechwood. Newbridge move into 2nd place as they saw off Blaina 10-2 whilst Abergavenny also came away with maximum points, a 12-0 in over Chepstow. Pontymister Welfare vs Aberca was postponed due the home side having player shortages.
GBL 2 Rink Division 1
Bailey Park remain top following an 8-2 win at home to Croesyceiliog. Cwmbran secured their 2nd win of the season and all 10 points with victory over Ynysddu to move upto 3rd in the table.
GBL 2 Rink Division 2
Caldicot are the new leaders of division 2, following their 8-2 win over Panteg Park. New Tredegar move upto 3rd place following a 10-0 win at Pontymister Atheltic whilst Blackwood overcame Oakdale, taking 8 of the 10 points on offer.
