Weekly Round-up from September 8th/9th

M.B.A. Division 1
Delighted to report that all fixtures in all divisions of the MBA league have been completed.

Congratulations to RTB Ebbw Vale who retained their division one title after winning at Beaufort. Beaufort also suffered a defeat in their final game at Machen with the victors claiming the runners up spot. Pontymister Athletic and Cwmbran occupy the bottom two places.

M.B.A. Division 2
Blackwood are champions here and are joined in promotion by Abertillery. Bedwellty Park and Caldicot occupy the bottom two places.

M.B.A. Division 3
Blaina took the honour of being champions after a comprehensive win at Caerleon, they pipped Brynmawr to the title who also had an impressive season and are also promoted. Rhymney Royal and Caerleon occupy the bottom two places.

M.B.A. Division 4
Llanhilleth finished with a win but defeat in midweek meant they didn't quite do enough to claim second place. This left St. Julians as champions and Pontnewydd as runners up. Panteg House and Abercarn are bottom two.

M.B.A. Division 5
Whiteheads are champions and are joined in the higher tier by Ebbw Vale Welfare. The bottom two are Panteg Park and Monmouth.

M.B.A. Division 6
This one was already decided with Ynysddu champions and Gilwern runners up.

G.B.L Summary
Not such good news from the GBL fixtures with a number of fixtures outstanding, a number of clubs appeared to be struggling to field two teams and the demise of the Rogerstone Club being factors. I would like to thank the officers of Rogerstone for their efforts and wish them and their members well for the future. I hope some at least will continue playing bowls at other clubs.

G.B.L. Division 1
Beaufort finish as champions despite a final match defeat at Pontymister Athletic with Chepstow runners up. I am not sure how the GBL will shape up next season so I will not mention relegation.

G.B.L. Division 2
In division two Newbridge are champions with Croesyceiliog as runners up.
