Weekly report of action from across the county by Match Secretary, Peter Williams

M.B.A. Cup Semi-Finals
Unfortunately it was a poor day weather wise in Monmouthshire and the game at Pontymister between Crosskeys and St. Julians was postponed. However at Newbridge there was a great game between two good sides with Beaufort edging out Bedwas & Trethomas to reach the final. Conditions at Newbridge were superb considering the rainfall and we are indebted to the club for allowing us to use their facilities and providing a lovely buffet.

W.B.A. Carruthers Shield
Mixed fortunes again for Monmouthshire clubs in the last sixteen with one team bound to fail with the all MBA tie between Cwmbran and R.T.B. Ebbw Vale. R.T.B. Ebbw Vale avenged their earlier defeat at Cwmbran in the MBA Cup to move into the quarter finals. St. Julians, enjoying a very good season, travelled to Whitchurch, Cardiff and found the home side in good form also. After a spirited effort it was the Cardiff side who moved into the last eight. Beaufort fared better at BSC Landore and had control of this game throughout winning a place in the Quarters also. This means we still have two sides in the last eight with R.T.B. Ebbw Vale hosting Merthyr West End and Beaufort will host Whitchurch. Good luck to both teams.

M.B.A. Division 1
Blackwood had a much needed win against Chepstow 14-0 to ease their relegation fears and leaving Abertillery and Beaufort adrift. Bedwas also won 14-0 at Abertillery to top the table at this stage.

M.B.A. Division 2
Following a mid week win against Cwmbran, Rhymney Gwent completed a successful week with a 10-4 win at Caldicot. Bedwellty Park moved off the bottom with a 10-4 win at Blaina and Brynmawr move up to third after beating Newbridge 11-3.

M.B.A. Division 3
A top of the table clash saw Pontnewydd beat Llanhilleth 12-2 to open a gap at the top while Blaenavon moved out of the relegation zone with an impressive 10-4 win at Rhymney Royal.

M.B.A. Division 4
Abercarn go second after a 14-0 win over Oakdale who look rooted to the bottom while leaders Panteg House moved nearer the title winning 10-4 at Whiteheads.

M.B.A. Division 5
Panteg Park remain top after winning 12-2 at Monmouth and Ynysddu matched them with a 12-2 win at Pontyfelin. Standard lead the chasing pack after winning 12-2 at Beechwood.

G.B.L. Division 1
Second place Bedwas beat leaders Croesyceiliog 10-2 to close the gap to just one point, Crickhowell closed in on them winning 12-0 against Abercarn. Chepstow are still fourth after a 10-2 win against Pontymister Athletic. Newbridge move up to fifth after beating Blackwood 12-0 and RTB beat Caldicot 8-4.
