2021 WBA Super 10 Winners - Monmouthshire


Congratulations to Team Manager Jamie Brown, the Under 25 team who played and all members of the squad who played their part in winning the title.

The final turned out to be a thrilling battle against Ceredigion & Pembrokeshire with the final going down to the last end of the fours discipline.

With the combined scores of each discipline making up the overall result, keeping any defeat to a minimum was key to bringing home the title.

Following a tightly contested game the singles, Oliver Witchell went down by 4 shots, 17-21.

In the pairs, Corey Bancroft and Ashley Naylor finished strongly by picking up 11 shots in the final 3 ends to win 19-15, having trailed 8-15 at 15 ends.

The triple of Lewys Thomas, JJ Jones and Matthew Wilde ran out 20-13 winners despite a late surge by their opponents.

The rink of Luke Jones, Ben Connor, Ben Salmon and Captain Aaron Rees contested a closely fought game with the lead being traded numerous times through the game. With the other disciples completed, Monmouthshire held a 7 shot lead going into the final end of the fours, and despite a valiant effort by their opponents to secure a large count, after 2 dead ends, they dropped 1 shot, going down 12-13. The result however, did not prevent Monmouthshire from bringing home the title 68-62.
