Caerleon Sports MBA Roundup

Caerleon Sports MBA Roundup
This weeks roundup starts with another round of MBA league matches on a wet and cold Wednesday night.

MBA1
RTB won 12-2 at Chepstow to move up to second place and Crosskeys beat Pontymister Athletic 9-5. The match at Bedwas was postponed.

MBA2
Pontnewydd moved top with a big 13-1 win over Abergavenny and Beaufort moved into second after beating Abertillery 14-0. Cwmbran had another good win at Caldicot 12-2 and Pontypool beat Brynmawr 10-4. Beaufort then beat Abergavenny 12-2 today to go to the top of the table.

MBA3
St. Julians go top after a big 14-0 win over Panteg House, Rhymney Royal are second after another big 14-0 win over Bedwellty. Blaina move up to third after a 12-2 win over Llanhilleth and Aberca lost 10-4 at home against Six Bells.
Friday saw the first round of the MBA cup and there were home wins for Blaina, RTB and Pontnewydd, while Caldicot had a walkover into round two after Pontymister Welfare pulled out. The other two ties saw away wins for Croesyceiliog and St. Julians. These teams now make up the last 32 of the competition with the 26 clubs who had a bye in round one.
Saturday was mainly back to Carruthers action for most clubs and with the results I have I shall try and show the positions and what is required in the final games next Saturday.

WBA17
New Tredegar beat Llanhilleth by 25 to head the section but Blaina stay in contention and there is a big section decider in Blaina next week when New Tredegar will be the visitors. Newbridge recorded a big win over Whiteheads but both teams are off the pace in this section.

WBA18
Rhymney Royal head the section after winning by five shots at Ynysddu, a very exciting game that went down to the last end. Rhymney Gwent also stay in with a shout after beating Abertillery. The section will be decided at Rhymney next Saturday when the two Rhymney sides meet each other.

WBA19
Bedwas recorded a big win at Pontyfelin to make it four from four and have now won this section, congratulations and good luck to them in the knockout stages. In the other game in the section, St. Julians won at Belle Vue by 7 shots.

WBA20
Caldicot won at Six Bells but defending champions RTB remain in control of the section after beating Pontnewydd.

WBA21
Blackwood won at Panteg Park and stay in control of this section, not yet had a result from the Crosskeys v Oakdale match.

WBA22
Gilwe are struggling to raise a team and have withdrawn from this section which means Cwmbran Park are through after their earlier victory over Pontymister Welfare. Congratulations and good luck to them in the Knockout stages.

WBA23
Blaenavon won at Beechwood to stay in contention but not heard from Gadiffaith or Chepstow.

WBA24
This section has already been won by Croesyceiliog, congratulations and good luck to them.

WBA25
Beaufort stay in contention after a big win at Aberca but not had result from Panteg House or Bedwellty.

WBA26
Unfortunately Caerleon have withdrawn from this section which means their results are now null and void, it also means Pontymister Athletic have now won the section after beating the other two remaining teams, congratulations and good luck to them.

GBL1
RTB remain top after beating Croesyceiliog 8-4 with Bedwas second after beating Crickhowell 12-0.

GBL2
Abertillery top the table after beating Blackwood 12-0 on Friday night, Caldicot won 10-2 at Blackwood but I haven’t heard from Bedwellty or Chepstow for todays result. Abertillery are scheduled to play at Blaina tomorrow.
