Caerleon Sport Roundup - Week 6


MBA Cup
Friday saw the 2nd Round of the cup take place with 16 scheduled games. Unfortunately there were 4 teams unable to field sides, resulting in walkovers for Ynysddu, Six Bells, Blaina and Caldicot. The closest games of the round saw St. Julians defeated Rhymney Royal by 2 shots and Aberca won by 6 at home to Pontypool Park Girlings. Elsewhere there were wins for Newbridge, Abertillery, Blackwood, Llanhilleth, Chepstow, Panteg Park, RTB, New Tredegar, Croesyceiliog and Beaufort.

The draw for the 3rd Round will take place on Sunday following the County Championship match.

MBA Division 1
Cwmbran maintain top spot with a 10-4 win against RTB. Crosskeys are up to 2nd after another 14 points, this time against Chepstow. Croesyceiliog rise to 3rd after a 10-4 win against Bedwas and Blackwood record their first win of the season with maximum points at Pontymister Athletic.

MBA Division 2
Newbridge leap to the top after a 14-0 win of Abergavenny. Pontypool Park made it 2 wins from 2 with a 10-4 win at Caldicot. Rhymney Royal (12-2) and Pontnewydd (13-1), both recorded their first wins of the season.

MBA Division 3
Llanhilleth hold on at the top despite a 10-4 loss against St. Julians who raise to 2nd with the result. Abertillery edged Beaufort by 5 shots (10-4) to maintain an unbeaten start to the season.

MBA Division 4
Ynysddu continue to set the pace at the top with another win, this time 12-2 at home to Bedwellty park. Beechwood (12-2) and Aberca (11-3) both move up the table with home wins. Oakdale pipped Firbank by a single shot, picking up 10 points in the process.

MBA Division 5
Pontymister Welfare maintain their 100% record with 10 points at home to Belle Vue. Crickhowell rise to 2nd with 14 points against Gadiffaith. Whiteheads (10-4) and Gilwe (9-5) also came away with wins.

GBL Division 1
Pontymister Athletic still hold top spot but fell to a 10-2 defeat at Monmouth. Pontymister Welfare recorded their first win (9-3) at Bedwas whilst Chepstow took a maximum 12 at home to RTB.

GBL Division 2
Crosskeys continue their winning ways with another maximum at Abergavenny. Bedwellty Park and Blackwood both recorded 10-2 home victories.

GBL Division 3
Croesyceiliog hold onto top spot, winning at Beaufort, and are closely followed by St. Julians, who keep up their 100% record winning at Pontypool Park Girlings. In a day were away victories were on the cards, Whiteheads and Aberca also recorded wins.
